GLASS HALF FULL (2020)

“Glass Half Full” sees rapper Ynx716 from Buffalo NY link up with Scottish producer Vagrant Real Estate across ten tracks that explore viewpoints, perceptions, optimism and pessimism.

Through the lens of mounting racial and political tensions in the US during potentially one of the most important election years ever, Ynx716 ruminates on a wide range of subjects, from his position in the world and recognising one’s value to the financial pitfalls of flexing for social media. His dense rhymes float over the soulful and dark textures that Vagrant Real Estate weaves together underneath, scattering slices of pop culture ephemera throughout to pinpoint a phrase or an idea. The end result sees a dark yet ultimately hopeful outlook for the future both in the United States and around the globe, pushing on from a year many will write off.

Ynx716’s low and nuanced flow takes the listener back to the essence of hip-hop, and “Glass Half Full” is the latest in a slew of releases capping off a stellar 2020 for him. Fresh off the back of “Fake Love” with Hip Hop legend Kool G Rap, “A Killers Killer” with fellow Buffalo native and Shady / Rocafella signee Conway The Machine, and “Upstate”, a project with producer Purpdogg (Drake, Soulja Boy, Jay Z), Ynx716 is steadily building a strong fanbase with no signs of slowing down.
